Walks and Walking

There are a number of Walks around the Village suitable for both those on foot or riding horses. Here is a short Guide produced by the Village website

  • For general information about public rights of way (footpaths, bridleways, restricted byways and byways open to all traffic) go to Suffolk County Council's Public Rights of Way
  • To view a working copy of the Definitive Map, which shows all legally recorded public rights of way in Stanton, go to Suffolk County Council's website - Definitive map
  • Suffolk County Council is responsible for maintaining public rights of way. To report a problem, such as a broken or missing fingerpost or an obstruction, on a footpath, bridleway, restricted byway or byway open to all traffic then you can report this on line - Report public right of way issue
In addition the Village is close to the 46 mile Peddars Way which can be started from Knettishall Heath nearby. Download a map here

If you wish to go further afield then here are a few ideas of places you can visit Redgrave and Lopham Fen , Brandon Country Park, West Stow Country Park and Kings Forest, High Lodge, Thornham Walks to name but a few

Are you fed-up with doing the same old walks?

Walking in Suffolk www.walkinginengland.co.uk/suffolk is the website for you!

With hundreds of walks to download and print, free, it also has books of walks, contact details for all the walking groups in the county and much more. Whether you want to walk on your own or with a group all the information is there in one place.

John said ‘There is so much walking information on the web but it is difficult to find. Walking in Suffolk (part of the Walking in England suite of websites (www.walkinginengland.co.uk) – one for each county in England) has brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you’.

With walks from half a mile to twelve miles plus long, and a note of suitability for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy.

So home or away, check out the websites and get walking!
